When everyone said that the Web would be the next big thing, and started learning HTML and publishing web pages with brightly colored images and blinking <H1> headings, I resisted. I said, “I am not a webmonkey!” and refused to buy in to the craze. So here I am, almost ten years later, without a web page to speak of, save for some perl-generated image galleries. Looking back, I think my objection was more to the tasteless use of hypertext markup, and not to the Web itself as an information carrier. While I’m not sure anyone particularly cares about what I have to say, I think saying it will be useful to me.
